I think if you doubled the width, you could also make a nice afghan with this pattern. Someday I think I'll try it. I would need twice the amount of yarn, or 14 skeins Caron Simply Soft Heather. I would ch 154 instead of 84 and repeat the portion in ( ) 10 times instead of 5.
